Writing letters to the editors and opinion pieces for local newspapers are effective activism. Elected official monitor these publications and a well-written thoughtful letter can make a big impact if published! Local paper are often eager to publish quality letters that will boost their readership.

Midcoast Villager submissions of letters may be up to 350 words.
Deadline is Monday at noon for consideration in the Thursday edition. We do not publish anonymous opinion items.
The Bangor Daily News welcomes commentary from readers. Letters should not exceed 250 words, OpEd commentary should not exceed 650 words.
Both may be edited or rejected for clarity, taste, libel and space. If a letter or OpEd is published, submissions by the same writer may not be considered for 30 days.
Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram letters published will also be appear on the letters to the editor page.
Letters to the editor should contain no more than 250 words. The Portland Press Herald reserves the right to edit the letters for length and clarity.
