Our last KCDC meeting was Tuesday, August 11, at Stella Maris House in Rockland.
We elected (after an eternity with the position unfilled) a new Corresponding Secretary , Karen Brace of Hope, who received a round of applause when she said, ...writing press releases is second nature to me...,
and a new Treasurer, Mike Dunn of Warren. Thanks again to our outgoing treasurer, Richard Ogle. The nominating committee could not present a candidate for Chair; nominated from the floor, Hugh Magbie said he would consider the position after consulting with his family. Thanks again to outgoing Chair, Mary Forristall, who reiterated her regret at not being to continue due to the demands of her business and husband George's health.
Other sad news was Kathie Johnson's resignation as Fundraising Chair due to her health. We will sorely miss Kathie's tireless efforts and excellent results in fundraising. Thanks, Kathie.
Thanks to Barb Klapprodt, who presented the results of her search for a meeting place, recommending the Rockland Library with meetings to start earlier to compensate for the library's 8:00 p.m. closing. Members present ultimately voted to continue meeting at Stella Maris House, whose recent renovations (including new carpeting, kitchen appliances and cleaned drapes) eliminated second-hand smoke odors.
Mike Mayo's KCDC Services Policy was adopted with minor changes (see the agenda for the original text).
The meeting agenda is here.
